About Our Program
Our 21st Century Community Learning Center for Junior High students is called Soaring Without Limitations. Our intention is to offer powerful programs that will greatly enhance knowledge and skills for all participants to thrive in the 21st Century community and workplace.
Cripple Creek Victor School District, in alignment with their district mission of “Achieving Excellence One Student at a Time,” was awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. The purpose of this grant is two-fold. The first part is to offer junior high students academic enrichment opportunities along with activities designed to compliment the students’ regular academic program. Secondly, parents of students who will participate in this program have an opportunity to enhance their own education and workforce skills.
Currently, there is a critical challenge to keep pace in preparing all students in the United States to meet the demands of a global community and tomorrow’s workforce. There is a profound gap between the knowledge and skills most students learn in school and the knowledge and skills they need in a typical 21st Century community and workplace. Every child needs 21st Century knowledge and skills to succeed as effective citizens, workers, and leaders in the 21st Century.
Children of the 21st Century are more sensitive and feel on a deeper level. They also rebel stronger when put in a box. This grant is a wonderful opportunity for Cripple Creek-Victor Junior High to truly be out of the box! Hence, our 21st Century Community Learning Center is called, “ Soaring Without Limitations”. Our intention is to offer powerful programs that will greatly enhance knowledge and skills for all participants to thrive in the 21st Century community and workplace. Service Learning In Action
